We took their concept of a new car coming out of a gift box and turned it into a complete narrative. We managed all elements from design and engineering to print and worked with the client to optimise the campaign plan to ensure it delivered exactly the results they wanted.

How Datum helped Lexus Woodford experience amazing
With the launch of the new Lexus UX Hybrid on the horizon, we were approached by the Lexus Woodford dealership to create an impactful, engaging and compelling promotional video that could be used across their social media channels. Not only did the video need to stand out against their competitors’ messages, it also needed to stand out amongst their Lexus dealership peer group as the best dealership submitted video would be in the running for a £10,000 prize from Lexus UK.

Lexus Woodford had an initial idea about a gift box. The wonderment of opening a package and finding something amazing inside. Our challenge was how to get a full-sized Lexus compact SUV into, and out of, a box and create a narrative that was consistent with the brand’s focus on ‘experience amazing’.
Time was tight for delivery. We only had three weeks from the sign off on the creative concept through to delivery of the final asset. That wasn’t the only time constraint. The vehicle itself hadn’t yet been released and we were only able to have access to it for less than six hours, and that required special permission from Lexus head office.
This is where our ‘all under one roof’ approach paid dividends for the client. We were quickly able to firm up the creative concept and artwork up a storyboard to illustrate the idea for the client to approve. From there it was all about faithfully bringing that story to life. We designed and engineered the boxes – both big and small. We undertook the installation and made sure everything was true to the concept and true to the brand. We brought on board a trusted film crew who made sure that aspect ran smoothly. We undertook a lead role in the post-production of the video and delivered it to the client exactly on time.
We also worked with the client to plan their social media campaign to ensure maximum impact and maximum return on the client’s investment.
The client was delighted with the results and is fully expectant that the launch of the video will kickstart enquiries for the Lexus UX from customers both existing and new.
